Terms and Conditions

Charges:

House Proud should be paid directly, on a monthly basis, at an agreed rate per hour worked. The total amount charged one month in advance comprises of a fee payable to House Proud plus payment to the self employed Cleaner/Housekeeper. If the sum payable has not been received by House Proud by the due date, House Proud reserves the right to charge to the client interest at 2% above the prevailing Bank of England Base Rate, for each day that the total amount remains outstanding or any part remains unpaid.

Cleaners/Housekeepers provided by House Proud are selected for each Client and regularly assessed and supported in exchange for a fee. This fee is charged at an hourly rate and must be increased in line with additional hours worked. If additional hours are required, a request should be made by telephone, or email to House Proud directly and not agreed informally with the Cleaner/Housekeeper. Every effort will be made to ensure that, the client’s requirements are met. The minimum number of hours worked is 3 hours on a weekly basis or 4 hours on a fortnightly basis.

To protect the goodwill of House Proud all Cleaners/Housekeepers enter into an agreement with us. This agreement restrains them from carrying out any unauthorised work for any of House Proud’s Clients and in the event of them leaving House Proud, for whatever reason, for a period of twelve months from the date their agreement with House Proud was terminated.

House Proud will make a charge of 12 months fees, if a Client engages (or employs) any of House Proud’s service providers in any cleaning or domestic capacity whatsoever (other than officially through House Proud) either directly, or on behalf of any third party, and regardless of what address the work is carried out at. In this context, employment or engagement in a domestic capacity includes (but is not limited to) cleaning, housekeeping, cooking, gardening, ironing, nannying, babysitting, other forms of childcare, home help, and nursing care.

Bank Holidays:

Clients whose regular cleaning day falls on such dates should contact House Proud by telephone, email or otherwise in writing, at the earliest possible opportunity if they wish to request an alternative cleaning date. House Proud is unable to guarantee that it will be able to make alternative arrangements over Bank Holidays (Christmas, Easter, New Year, etc.) in such circumstances, but where possible every effort will be made to ensure that a cleaner is provided.

Cleaner’s Absence through Sickness or Holidays:

In the event of a Cleaner/Housekeeper being absent through sickness and/or a pre-arranged holiday every effort will be made to provide an alternative service provider although this cannot be guaranteed. The replacement Cleaner may not be able to carry out their work on the usual day, but will be organised to arrive at a mutually convenient time.

Working Environment:

You agree to treat Cleaners/Housekeepers courteously and lawfully. You agree to provide a safe and appropriate working environment in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and that you will provide reasonable co-operation to the Cleaners/Housekeepers to enable them to supply their services. House Proud may refuse to carry out any work if in its absolute discretion it considers such work to be of hazardous or excessively unpleasant nature, and/or beyond its technical ability, and/or if House Proud, its client(s), or any third party, could suffer loss, damage, or injury, as a consequence of carrying out such work.

You agree to communicate any comments, recommendations or complaints directly to us, so that we can address them in an appropriate manner, and not to the service providers. If you are unhappy with your Cleaner/Housekeeper we will select a different one for you, no questions asked.

Service:

House Proud connects persons who are looking to engage self-employed Cleaners/Housekeepers (service providers) to provide cleaning and/or housekeeping services at their property. We thoroughly check the backgrounds of each service provider, obtain 2 identification documents, proof of address, interview all Cleaners/Housekeepers in person. However, we do not guarantee or warrant the reliability, quality or suitability of any service providers. House Proud will not be liable, to the extent permitted by law, for any claim, injury or damage arising in connection with your use of the services of the self-employed Cleaners/Housekeepers. You expressly understand and agree that your use of the service is at your sole risk and that the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. House Proud expressly excludes all warranties and conditions, (whether implied by statute, common law or otherwise and including any warranty as to fitness for purpose and satisfactory quality, and non-infringement) to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Cancellation by us:

House Proud reserves the right to cancel any particular booking at any time, or this agreement as a whole, including your right to use our services, giving notice by email to the extent reasonably practicable.

Access to the Property and Cleaning Equipment:

House Proud’s Clients are responsible for providing water, electricity and all cleaning equipment. All electrical equipment (e.g.: vacuums, irons, dishwashers, washing machines and floor polishers) should be in good working order. The Client is also responsible for ensuring the Cleaner/Housekeeper is able to access the property.

This notice should be made either by telephone, email, or otherwise in writing. Any notice given shall be deemed to take effect on the date of receipt of your letter or telephone call.

Notice period:

If you wish to discontinue with the services of House Proud a period of one month’s notice is required and should be given either in writing, email, or by telephoning the office.
